When it comes to the top honeymoon destinations in SouthEast Asia, Thailand is undoubtedly one of our top picks,  for its rich culture is charming and exotic beauty, irresistible. In Thailand itself, it comes as no surprise that with the many exciting things to do in Bangkok, the capital is heavily frequented for its great food and shopping. But despite our yearly visits to Bangkok, it was only on our latest trip we uncovered a side to Bangkok we never knew existed before. We discovered a remarkably serene side to Bangkok, making it a perfect honeymoon destination for newlyweds looking to escape the city hustle – thanks to The Siam Hotel.

A 7 Day Urban Luxury Honeymoon Retreat The Siam Hotel, Bangkok – Complete Itinerary

Day 1: Step foot into an exclusive sanctuary

Tucked away in the streets of Bangkok, the entrance to The Siam hotel was unassuming, but it soon unveiled a charming sanctuary.

Be warmly welcomed by your personal butler

The moment we stepped foot into the compound, we were warmly welcomed by our butler. Our luggage were taken care of the moment we arrived. As we were ushered into the reception area, the staff greeted us with smiles and gentle nods. It was a lovely feeling to have after a flight. We later learned that The Siam Hotel takes their 24-hour butler service very seriously. There are 7 butlers taking care of all the guests in the resort, but my experience felt like it was a 1-on-1 service.

Tong, our butler, was extremely welcoming and courteous, not to mention, incredibly meticulous and capable. He greeted us at breakfast every morning to find out what plans we had for the day. Throughout our stay, he checked in regularly to ask if we needed any assistance. All this, in a professional yet personal and non-intrusive way. Thanks to Tong, our tour and transport arrangements were all well taken care of. He even went the extra mile to initiate printing out our bookings for our flight out of Bangkok. It was the first we experienced such high-quality butler service, making us feel certain that you will have an unforgettable stay here, thanks to their attentive and well-trained butlers

Check out your gorgeous suite

Upon arriving at the resort, we were given a drink and cold towel to refresh ourselves. We were then ushered to our Riverview Suite to complete our check-in. The suite had a beautiful view of the Chao Phraya river, which shines through the floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a comfortable lounge area where you can sit to admire the sunset views.

The Riverview Suite also comes with a palatial bathroom that has a huge tub, roomy enough for two people to comfortable soak in. On our second evening, we returned to our room to see the tub filled with foam and roses for a relaxing and romantic soak. What a nice surprise! The bathroom comes complete with two vanity areas, a separate shower and toilet area, plus, a dedicated area to tuck all your luggage aside. Measuring a spacious 110 metres, it is no wonder the Riverview Suite is one of their highly sought after rooms and is often booked out.

Or stay in the only pool villa in Bangkok

Bangkok is unlike its neighbouring islands Phuket or Krabi where pool villas are aplenty. In fact, The Siam Hotel is the only hotel in Bangkok with a pool villa for your honeymoon! Their villas are situated right by the riverbank, only steps away from their pier and swimming pool.

Consistent throughout the hotel, the pool villa is decked with luxurious furnishings, and the decor is a blend of Western and Asian influences. You will find a humongous bed lined with luxurious sheets and big pillows for your comfort. The eloquent design creates a luxe ambience, and the serenity of being close to the river indeed enhances your mood for leisure and relaxation. The pool villa also comes with a 2nd-floor terrace overlooking the river. Come evening time, lounge here to admire the mesmerizing sunset views with your other half. It is very romantic!

Explore the beautiful compound

On your first day, we suggest exploring the resort to see the different spaces you can enjoy throughout your stay. Take time to admire the design of the hotel, for it is a work of art conceived by Krissada Sukosol Clapp, creative director and celebrity and Bill Bensley, a globally acclaimed architect and interior designer who was named Architectural Digest’s ‘Top 100 Designers and Most Creative People’.

The setting of The Siam Hotel was to conceive the period of Bangkok’s greatest grandeur, under King Rama V (circa 1853-1910), with Art Deco accents. It’s muted colour scheme combined with natural textures and sprawling greenery was to create a serene and simple, yet luxe and stylish atmosphere. The high ceilings give an airy spacious feel, and it was nice to walk around the hotel resort to enjoy the refreshing vibes. Enjoy the antique pieces on display in the library collected by the Sukosol family, who lovers of art and heritage.

Immerse in the exclusive experience

Housing only 39 rooms, The Siam Hotel is an exclusive and private space, ideal for romantic experiences and perfect for honeymooners. Spend your first day immersing yourself in this exclusive experience and enjoy the quiet spaces and peaceful ambience around the hotel.

Go on a romantic sunset cruise

Kickstart the romance on your Bangkok honeymoon with a sunset dinner cruise from 6 – 8 pm. This is one of the signature excursions of The Siam, and one that is not to be missed. Get on board for sunset drinks and canapés or a romantic private dinner aboard The Golden Naga. Originally used to transport rice from the provinces to the key cities of Thailand, today The Golden Naga has been refurbished for cruising comfort and romantic experiences. Easily make reservations for this cruise through your butler.

Day 2: Explore Bangkok’s gems

On your second day, be greeted with idyllic views of the river right from your bedroom window. It is time to get changed and explore Bangkok’s finest gems!

Have breakfast by the idyllic Chao Phraya River

Have a refreshing start to the morning, with a breakfast right by the river. Enjoy being surrounded by greenery and warm sunshine. It is a great way to start the morning!

Discover the famous landmarks of Bangkok on a half-day adventure

If you notice the Thai coins, they have their remarkable landmarks carved onto them. The Siam Hotel has a half-day adventure that takes you to discover the stunning landmarks featured on the Thai coins in your pocket. You will take the shuttle boat from the hotel’s private pier, and the tour starts off with Wat Arun, featured on the 10 Baht coin.

Next, you will disembark at Rattanakosin Island, Bangkok’s historical old city where you will visit Wat Phrakaew at the Grand Palace (1 Baht coin), the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, followed by Wat Saket atop the Golden Mount (2 Baht coin) or Wat Benchamabophit, the Marble Temple (5 Baht coin). The tour ends with an iconic tuk-tuk ride back to the hotel.

The excursion is flexible and you can request for alternations to accommodate more landmarks, or reduce the number of stops. You can adjust the timings to avoid the crowded hours as well. The tour is 3 – 3.5 hours and comes with beverages and light snacks.

Hop on complimentary boat rides throughout your stay

The Siam Hotel offers many conveniences during your stay, one of which is the private boat that you can take. The boat rides are complimentary during your stay, and you can use it to travel to the other piers along the riverside to enjoy more of what Bangkok has to offer. We took the boat ride to get to Asiatique! The best part about travelling by boat is you avoid the heavy traffic in Bangkok, which can get you stuck on the road for hours!

Enjoy sunset views by the pier

After the tour, return to The Siam Hotel to rest, relax and enjoy the rest of your evening. As sunset approaches, make the most of The Siam’s riverside location and head down to the pier’s floating deck to soak in the mesmerizing sunset views, and a cocktail or two.

A quiet moment here can recharge you for the next day ahead! This was my favourite spot to chill out in the entire hotel, as you watch the warm glow shine over the skyline as dawn turns to dusk.

Tuck into a delicious dinner at the Chon Thai restaurant

After a long day, head over to Chon Thai restaurant for a delicious meal. Headed by Chef Damri, the dishes here are bursting with flavour and excitment, thanks to the variety of spices that are harmoniously blended together.

“I love working with classic Thai home-cooked recipes, but giving them new life through modern cooking techniques or exciting new ingredient pairings.” – Chef Damri Muksombat

The interiors of the restaurant pay homage to the traditional Thai teakwood houses. Savour these cultural masterpieces while enjoying the local ambience! Dining here is bound to be an unforgettable experience.

Day 3: Showcase your cooking talents

Have breakfast at the Deco Bar & Bistro

The next morning, change it up and have your breakfast indoors at the Deco Bar & Bistro. The contemporary vibes here are chic and paves the way for an exciting morning ahead. Order various cuisines, from Western classics like egg benefit to local delights like boat noodles, from the ala-carte menu. Top up with freshly baked pastries and fresh fruits from the buffet. The pleasant and stylish atmosphere here made mornings all the more enjoyable!

Transport yourself back in time

After a fulfilling breakfast, head up to the second storey to relax at the Vinyl Room and the English Garden. The vintage furnishings of the Vinyl room transports you back into the past. You can also take a look at the antique collection of books, statement rugs, and intricate decor pieces.

The English Garden offers a serene space for you to relax your mind and enjoy nature, and is also one of my favourite spots. This space seems to be cut out from Alice in Wonderland. It could make an ideal spot for an afternoon tea!

Whip up delicious delights at a Thai cooking class

Now it is time for you to showcase your inner Martha Stewart. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned cook, The Siam Hotel’s cooking class is a great way for you both to bond and get hands-on in creating your meal! At the Chon Thai restaurant, learn to cook Thai favourites with the help of a professional chef, in a traditional Thai teakwood house. The experience is great!

The class is private, with only 2 cooking stations. The class starts off with a trip to the local fresh market (optional), where you can have a first look at the fresh ingredients and spices that go into making these flavourful dishes. Return back to The Siam to cook and enjoy three delicious dishes of your choice. Enjoy a truly immersive experience here with the local Thai cuisine. Simply inform your butler a day in advance if you are keen to sign up!

Watch a movie in your own private theatre

The Siam Hotel has a private theatre that you can reserve ahead of time for your own private screening. How exclusive! Best yet, booking is complimentary during your stay. The theatre has a good visual and sound system that makes for great entertainment. This space is private, intimate and will make you both feel very special during your Bangkok honeymoon. You also get served popcorn and drinks during the screening, what an enjoyment!

Day 4: Continue your explorations

Visit a Floating market

After a restful day, it is time to head out to see Bangkok again! This time, visit the famous floating markets of Bangkok, for shopping is not only done in malls and streets! The Siam Hotel has a full-day excursion that will bring you to see a Thailand of the past, while experiencing present-day river life. A one and a half hours drive will take you to Tha Kha Floating Market, one of the last authentic local floating markets near Bangkok that is not overrun with tourists. The area around SamutSongkhram is an important historical district, for the final battles with the Burmese and the early influential European trading routes. This tour not only takes you to see the exciting river life but gives you a peek into the significant historical events.

READ  [Update] St. Regis | st regis - Sambeauty

Continue on the tour to Amphawa, where you can dine at charming local eateries, before exploring the Amphawa Market for cheap bargains. On the way back, you can request to stop at the Maeklong Railway Market, one of the largest fresh seafood markets in Thailand. It is an eye-opener, for stalls are on the tracks and move away when a train approaches, only to shift back once the train passes. This 8-hour tour is extensive and enriching. If you have a full day to spare, do sign up for it by asking your butler.

Discover Bangkok’s old waterways

Alternatively, you can explore Bangkok’s waterways on a boat tour. The Siam Hotel has an excursion that takes you through Bangkok’s vintage communities, giving you an authentic experience away from the tourist masses. Board a long-tail boat through Thonburi, Thailand’s capital between the Ayutthaya and Bangkok periods. During this tour, you will visit old artisan villages, markets and art communities. Click here for the full itinerary.

Go on a cycling expedition

If exploring on foot is too mainstream, hop on a bike on a cycling tour to discover a side of Bangkok you never expected to find. The Siam Hotel has a tour that takes you across the mighty Chao Phraya River to take a closer look at life beyond skyscrapers in Bangkok’s Thonburi area. Get up close and personal with local life and sleepy communities, all while discovering Ayutthaya-era temples, explore small canals, lush jungles, and even floating markets!

Though tours can come easily available in Bangkok, it was hard finding tours that were this flexible and tailored to your preferences. What I enjoyed about The Siam Hotel, was its list of curated experiences that take you away from the same old, aiming to provide you with a more authentic and unforgettable journey on your Bangkok honeymoon. For even more flexibility, you can request for a personal tour guide to take you around, whether it is you wish to visit a museum, go shopping or simply explore the historic neighbourhood around The Siam Hotel.

Day 5: Get active, and then pampered

Try Muay Thai boxing

It was my first time trying Muay Thai and it was extremely fun! This traditional sport is hugely popular throughout Thailand, and you can even watch Muay Thai matches in Bangkok. Trying it for myself was a great experience and also a good workout. The instructor at The Siam Hotel is an Olympics trainer. He is very professional yet at the same time, patient to teach beginners like me! Muay Thai is a great way to stay active while on vacation, and you both can spar each other too after learning the basics. The boxing ring is in the fitness centre which also has a full suite of exercise machines for your use.

Pamper yourselves at the Opium Spa

The Opium Spa is what makes The Siam Hotel the sanctuary it is. This wellness centre, inspired by natural beauty is a private space that brings exclusive Sodashi therapies and spa products that rejuvenate and nourishes the weary. Using fine essential oils that are ethically sourced, you can choose from a selection of facials, body and massage therapies. You can even go further to experience a multi-day spa package!

A relaxing spa is the best follow-up to an active Muay Thai or gym work out. Relax your mind and soothe your muscles on one of the most comfortable and luxurious spa beds I’ve laid on, only at The Siam Hotel. The spa also has a huge bathhouse for further relaxation.

Sip Afternoon tea at Cafe Cha

After your spa, head to Cafe Cha to enjoy afternoon tea, from a selection of pastries, desserts, coffees and teas. Eat to your heart’s content!

Take a dip in the pool and enjoy cocktails from Bathers Bar

For your evening enjoyment, head to the pool along the riverfront lawn for a refreshing swim. Enjoy refreshing cocktails from Bathers Bar, along with light bites. Lounge on the daybeds and enjoy each others’ company, all this while taking in the unencumbered views of the serene Chao Phraya river.

Day 6: Wrap up your stay with souvenirs and makeovers

Visit bustling Chinatown

Every city has a Chinatown, and so does Bangkok! One of the more colourful and lively places in Bangkok. Here, walk through the narrow lanes, fresh markets, religious landmarks and textile booths. Enhance your visit by sampling street snacks. Fast, frenzied and eclectic, a trip to Chinatown is a must on your trip! The Siam Hotel has a 4-5 hour guided tour to Chinatown, simply ask your butler to make the arrangements.

Get a makeover at the salon

Refresh yourself further with a new look at the in-house salon in The Siam Hotel. Get a new hairstyle, or trim your nails with a manicure or pedicure. All salon treatments begin with Sodashi’s calming aromatic ritual for incredible pampering. Do book your slot in advance.

Get a sacred tattoo

For a memorabilia that would last, get a Sak Yant tattoo. The Siam Hotel is one of the rare few luxury hotels that provide such a service, ensuring that the process is professional, safe and sanitary. If you are looking to get yourself a tattoo in Thailand, I would not advise getting it elsewhere rather than here.

Enjoy a night out at Asiatique

On your last night in Bangkok, head out to Asiatique to soak up the vibes! Shop through a wide range of souvenirs, clothes and household goods. This outdoor mall also has many restaurants where you can sit and chill all night long over good music.

Day 7: Wake up refreshed

After 6 days at The Siam Hotel, we are certain you will wake up on the final morning feeling refreshed and energized! Being close to nature does have such an effect. For your last day, do stop by the gift shop for some last minute shopping. Apart from the standard silk scarves, jewellery and merchandise, the lobby shop at The Siam Hotel have a treasure trove of antiques and rare Southeast-Asian handicrafts, sourced from the personal collection of the owner. Find out more here.

“The Siam is a remarkable hotel, a luxuriously serene escape from mad, bad Bangkok…” – Vanity Fair

After a relaxing time at The Siam Hotel, don’t stop here! We suggest for you to have a multi-stop honeymoon in Thailand, for there are many other beautiful destinations to discover, such as Chiang Mai, Krabi and Phuket. You can even drive up to a seaside retreat at Hua Hin.

[Update] Nao & Yuwa | Traditional Wedding at the Siam, Bangkok | the siam hotel wedding – Sambeauty

Bangkok Wedding Photographer

Destination weddings bring to mind warmer weather, sunshine, and well, the chance to get away from it all. Nao & Yuwa’s intimate wedding celebration in Bangkok was no different, as they and their guests flew in from Tokyo for the weekend.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, take in the architecture of their gorgeous boutique hotel venue, the Siam Bangkok.

Bangkok Wedding PhotographerBangkok Wedding PhotographerNao & Yuwa chose to hold their ceremony and reception one after the other, which meant they could take the time to get ready together prior to. This is my favourite way for a wedding day to unfold, as it means the formal parts of the day feel more like one big party – you and your guests can roll from the ceremony to cocktail hour, to dinner seamlessly, and you can rest assured that your guests don’t feel a gap in between events.

Nao & Yuwa had picked Bangkok as their destination as it was the first place they had ever travelled to together. Finding locations with personal meaning to you both can have a larger impact, as sentiment is a powerful thing.

While there is no right or wrong on choosing the size of your wedding, smaller gatherings tend to have a different feeling to them. There is a unique intimacy as the happy couple can connect with each guest; conversations can last into the night, and guests get to know each other a little better than say a large event with 350 in attendance.

Nao & Yuwa had 16 guests attend their wedding, and though everything was impeccably styled (guests included), you could feel a relaxed atmosphere in the air. Proof that formal celebrations don’t need to be stuffy.Bangkok Wedding PhotographerBangkok Wedding Photographer

As homage to their destination of choice, Nao & Yuwa opted for a traditional Thai water ceremony (Rod Nam Sang) to bless their marriage. The ceremonial headdress signifies their joining as a married couple, and starting with their parents, each guest poured blessed holy water over the couples hands.

By incorporating a new to them tradition into their wedding, it added a special depth to Nao & Yuwa’s ceremony that will have guests remembering it for years to come.

With a long table dinner set next to the Chao Phraya River, cocktails and champagne toasts were had as the sun set and the evening program began.Bangkok Wedding PhotographerBangkok Wedding Photographer

A long table dinner creates an environment meant for socializing compared to a circular banquet style table which can feel more formal. The shape of the space as well as the overall feel that we wanted to create for the reception was also taken into consideration. Al fresco dining brings to mind family style meals and relaxed summer evenings meant for enjoying. By adding lounge chairs beside the table, guests were able to mingle and unwind before dinner.

Nao & Yuwa chose to move the party into one of the traditional Thai houses for their speeches. By gathering family and friends around, their heartfelt words felt sacred as their nearest and dearest were able to hear them in a soft spoken manner, no podium or microphone required.Bangkok Wedding Photographer

Because of the intimate size of the gathering, Nao & Yuwa were able to hand their thank you gifts and favours out to each guest instead of placing them next to the place settings at the table.

Thinking of hosting a smaller destination wedding? Here’s what to keep in mind:

    • Taking formal photos prior to the schedule of events will allow for a more seamless day, and allow you to be present with your guests. The smaller guest list and unfamiliarity of the setting can become more apparent if there’s a gap in between proceedings.
Be present! Be there! Mingle and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
    • We did family photos right after the ceremony, but because half of the guest list was family, we were able to get these done within 15 minutes and take a larger group photo with everyone near the water afterwards. Since lounge chairs were put out where the reception was taking place, guests were able to socialise and grab a drink while the family photos proceeded.
    • If you want to have your events back to back, think of what time you’d like the reception to begin and work backwards from there. If you plan on doing family photos in between ceremony and reception like we did, think about how much time that would potentially take, as well as the ceremony length to figure out a scheduled start time.
