BRIDGING THE PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE: HUA CHANG HERITAGE HOTEL OFFICIALLY WELCOMES GUESTS TO A NEW BOUTIQUE EXPERIENCE
A new style of boutique luxury has arrived in downtown Bangkok. Announcing the official opening of Hua Chang Heritage Hotel, where classic Siamese motifs blend seamlessly with contemporary design concepts. Inspired by the art and culture of King Rama V-era Thailand and turn-of-the-century Europe, Hua Chang Heritage Hotel combines cosmopolitan sophistication with refined relaxation. In a soft-opening phase since January 2013, the hotel officially begins full operation in late first quarter of the year.
The concept of preserving heritage in a contemporary context is evident in every component, from the hotel’s “New Thai Colonial” architectural styles combining Thai and Western design elements, to the lush greenery that abounds throughout a tranquil garden setting. Here guests find an urban resort of unexpected splendor nestled within one of the city’s most vibrant districts.
The seven-story building comprises 80 stylish guest rooms as well as an array of facilities and amenities to enhance the luxury boutique experience. Guests enjoy advantages such as 24-hour in-room dining, pool bar, cozy reading area, limousine service and even personal butler service.
A Bridge to Luxury
Hua Chang Heritage Hotel is the newest development by Baiyoke Group of Hotels, developer of major properties including Thailand’s tallest hotel, Baiyoke Sky Hotel in Bangkok. For its latest project, the group has brought considerable expertise in the luxury market and combined it with a keen sense of history, an understanding of contemporary desires and a clear vision of the future.
The hotel takes its name from nearby Hua Chang Bridge (Elephant Head Bridge) built during the reign of Rama V. Today, this city-center location likewise exemplifies Bangkok’s emergence as an international metropolis attracting leisure and business travelers from around the globe. On Phayathai Road with easy access to the adjacent BTS skytrain system, Hua Chang Heritage Hotel stands very near both Bangkok Art & Culture Center and historic Jim Thompson House. Also within short walking distance are major shopping centers including Siam Paragon, CentralWorld, MBK and the chic street fashions of Siam Square.
Hotel General Manager Sammy Sasaki states, “Hua Chang Heritage Hotel, Bangkok will rekindle the history of Hua Chang Bridge, or Chalermla Fifty-Six, which was built by King Rama V more than one hundred years ago during a period of rapid modernization in Thailand. Our concept of contemporary luxury from a historical perspective, along with unique signature amenities such as Thai-style personal butler service, are certain to please even the most discerning world travelers.”
Guest rooms at Hua Chang Heritage evoke both the natural environment and cultural traditions of Thailand. Details like color schemes based on the pink and purple hues of Thai orchids, in addition to subtle interior features like ceiling beams reminiscent of traditional teak homes yet in gleaming white – all contribute to a resolutely modern interpretation of Thai lifestyle. Indeed every guest room comes fully equipped with, for example, a bedside touch-screen panel for controlling room features, 40-inch Internet-enabled TV with Blue-ray DVD player, complimentary in-room Wi-Fi access and custom designed bathroom featuring electronic toilet conveniences. Thoughtful touches such as bathroom amenities by Thai luxury brand Thann further create a sense of refined relaxation.
Hotel facilities and services include free-form swimming pool surrounded by tropical landscaping, pool bar and elegant multi-function room highly configurable for everything from gala social events to business conferences. The hotel’s all-day dining venue, Miss Siam, allows guests another opportunity to experience Thai heritage, in this case the intricate flavors of one of the world’s finest cuisines. The restaurant’s name alludes to a lotus flower related to historic Sra Pratum palace (meaning lotus pond) located opposite the hotel, while the fare itself focuses on the distinctive court recipes known as royal Thai cuisine.
Piyalert Baiyoke, owner and vice president of Baiyoke Group of Hotels, summed up the appeal of his company’s newest hotel venture: “Hua Chang Heritage Hotel blends superlative amenities with modern technologies to ensure unsurpassed comfort. With great pride we unveil an exclusive urban retreat that’s truly like no other in Bangkok.”

[NEW] Hotel Review: Hua Chang Heritage Hotel, Bangkok | hua chang heritage hotel bangkok – Sambeauty
With a great location, comfortable rooms and excellent service, the Hua Chang Heritage Hotel ticks most of the boxes I look for in a hotel. Located a short stroll away from the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, this is chic and contemporary accommodation with a distinct Thai twist.
The Hua Chang Heritage Hotel has 80 rooms spread over 7 floors. With a mix of glitz, function and design, the rooms are anything but staid. Some of the quirkier aspects of the decor might not appeal to everybody, but work well in the context of this boutique hotel. An iPad-style control panel, hidden discretely away in a bedside drawer, controls the room lighting and air-conditioning. I wasn’t sure about this feature at first and yearned for the simplicity of turning a light switch on and off, but after a while this hi-tech solution began to grow on me. Clever design features maximise space with sliding wall panels enabling the bathroom to be open-plan or hidden away depending on your preference.
The name ‘Hua Chang’ means ‘elephant head’ and refers to the nearby Saphan Hua Chang (Elephant’s Head Bridge). Guests will see the hotel’s distinctive elephant head logo on bath towels and dressing gowns.
The mix of period and contemporary features works well and the concept of having private butlers wearing traditional-style costumes to look after guests is a nice touch. I didn’t use the pool, but it looked inviting and with a swim-up bar and tranquil environment would be a place I’d be happy to relax after a day’s sightseeing in Bangkok.
Breakfast can be eaten inside the dining area or al-fresco looking out onto the pool and tropical garden. I thought the breakfast offerings were very good with a mix of Asian and Western dishes to set you up for the day. I had lunch here on the afternoon I arrived (fried rice with shrimp and chicken soup) and it was excellent. Obviously not as cheap as eating at a hawker stall, but more than reasonable by hotel standards with the presentation of the dish and garden surroundings making it a very enjoyable meal. Even if you don’t stay at the hotel, there are often promotions for lunchtime dining which are worth checking out.
The only minor issue I had was the in-room wi-fi connection which was patchy on the first night I was there, but the problem rectified itself the next day.

When I’m in Bangkok, I often stay at the Wendy Guest House which is located in the same lane (Soi Kasemsan 1) as the Hua Chang Heritage. Approximately 20 metres up from Wendy House there is usually a fruit vendor who sells delicious coconuts and juice. Continue walking towards the National Stadium and MBK shopping mall and when you reach the main road turn right and right again into Kasemsan Soi 2 for Jim Thompson’s House
The Hua Chang Heritage is in an ideal location for exploring Bangkok. The Skytrain, Jim Thompson’s House, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and the central Siam shopping area are all within a comfortable 5-10 minute walking radius. To see a slice of local life, catch a canal boat taxi from Hua Chang Bridge (1 minute walk away) and take the 10-minute journey along the Saen Saep Canal to Wat Saket (the Golden Mount).
Hua Chang Heritage Hotel is an excellent choice whether you’re a first-time visitor to Bangkok or a frequent traveller to the Thai capital. A mix of classic elegance, charm and contemporary styling made for a thoroughly enjoyable 2-night stay.

Bangkok Luxury Hotels – Does the Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit Qualify?
There is an abundance of Bangkok luxury hotels, but does the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit qualify as one of the best hotels in Bangkok, or even as being a true luxury hotel? In this luxury travel video, I will take you through a full tour and review of the Hyatt Regency in Bangkok and I would love to get your comments about this hotel. Do you think the Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit is a 5 star luxury hotel, and one of the best hotels in Bangkok?
There are just so many luxury hotels in Bangkok that I have stayed in, some of the best in Bangkok, but unfortunately, I don’t feel the same about the Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit. Located near the Bangkok Sukhumvit nightlife area, the price for a standard room is around $170.00 per night, similar to the Marriott properties, Siam Kempinski, W Hotel and more. If you compare it to a property like the Athenee Hotel, I think the Hyatt falls short. This is just my personal opinion, and I would love to hear what you think about the Hyatt.
