Due to the recent occupation by protesters of the Government Complex at Chaengwattana, Immigration has relocated to their offices on the 5th floor of Imperial Ladprao (see map). This is their offices for Legalized Labor from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. However, due to the political situation, all foreigners were asked to use the Lad Prao offices. This is open Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. The Immigration hotline is 1111.

The protesters moved out of the Government Complex on Monday 9th December and so far haven’t gone back. This situation might change of course. At the moment, Immigration is expected to re-open at Chaengwattana on Monday 16th December 2013. I will post updates about this on Twitter @RichardBarrow.

The following are some notes written by Tod-Daniels on the ThailandQA Forums:

Last Tuesday I went to the alternate Immigration Office at Imperial World Ladprao. It was a LOT better than the previous day (when I was there too) as it was barely controlled chaos then. They had a good system of temporary tables, good clear signage up, had pre-printed queue numbers, vetted people’s paperwork before they gave you a queue number, and really for the volume of foreigners there, it ran smooth.

I’d say if you hafta go to Ladprao, go early. Last Tuesday I got there at 8:30. Walking outta there at about 11 when I was done shepherding the two people I was with it was totally packed outside Immigrations in the staging area.

Here’re some of the tricks to making it as painless as possible:

  • If you call The Thai Government Hotline at 1111, they’ll say it opens at 8:30, which it does NOT. It opens at 10:30, like the Immigration announcement says.
  • There’s a big sign in front on the ground floor which says Immigration Bureau next to the McDonald’s. DON’T go in that way as those doors don’t open until the mall itself opens.
  • If you’re there at 9 when Big C opens go in that entrance and instead of entering the store veer right and go into the darkened mall. Climb up the escalators (which aren’t working at that time) to the 5th floor, or take the lifts which do work. You can also go into the parking garage in back and walk right up to the back door of Immigration.
  • While they don’t let you into the Immigration Office until 10:30, they have a “staging area” where you can get your queue number, have your paperwork vetted, get applications, and today that area was staffed starting at about 8:45 when I walked up there. There are copy shops on the ground floor if you need them.
  • One other thing, they had a sign saying 10:30-18:30 (no lunch) meaning they weren’t closing for the one hour lunch, but doing split shifts to cover the volume of people.

Kudos to the Thai Immigration people for stepping up and making do with a tough situation because it ran as well as could be expected.

Big plans for Chaeng Watthana

Area poised for economic boom

The listed property developer SC Asset Corporation Plc plans to launch five new projects worth five billion baht, three of which will be located in the Chaeng Watthana area where a new government centre is likely to be developed, according to the company’s president Surathian Chakthranont.

He said the location was poised to become a new economic zone, as soon as about 30 departments of government agencies move into the area. A new bridge across the Chao Phraya River in Pak Kred, to be finished within the next two years, would also support growth in this location.

“Chaeng Watthana and Ram Intra will be the best locations supporting the city’s expansion as they will have mass transit, new expressways and a new bridge passing through,” said Mr Surathian.

He added that Don Muang would also see its fortunes improve following the official opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport in mid-2006, as its land use designation would be changed.

“While there have been a lot of new developments in the area surrounding the new airport, the current airport might be chosen as the location for the new Parliament,” said Mr Surathian.

“The property market will see consistent growth as the government stimulates the economy through spending on megaprojects during the next five years. There will be mass transit work worth 200-500 billion baht, the new airport, new roads and new bridges crossing the Chao Phraya River,” he said.

Mr Surathian expected the expansion of mass transit to add more value to new locations, while the value of existing locations near the skytrain and the subway would be reduced.

SC plans to launch a townhouse project under a new brand, Vista Park, in the Vacharapol area, as it saw demand moving towards the middle-income market.

The project will comprise 115 townhouses and 16 commercial units priced between 3.8 million and 7.5 million baht. Sales for the 420-million-baht project on 14 rai will be opened in March.

Also in the pipeline is a 710-million-baht condominium project, Centric Scene, to be located on Soi Phahon Yothin 9 with 206 units priced at between 2.55-7 million baht.

The company plans to develop a single-detached housing project, called Bangkok Boulevard, worth 1.65 billion baht on Rama V. Sales will open in April, with 242 units priced at 4.85 million to nine million baht.

By the second half of the year, the company plans to develop a second residential project on 40 rai in the Chaeng Watthana area, said Mr Surathian.

Meanwhile, the 54-rai plot that it acquired from Hino Motor, located on Vibhavadi Road opposite former Laksi Plaza, is to be developed into a residential project with six low-rise office towers.

Mr Surathian said the company expected sales to grow by about 30% by the end of 2005.

Shares of SC Asset, a subsidiary of Shin Corporation, closed yesterday on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, at 17 baht, up 40 satang in trade worth 22.63 million baht.

NEW BANGKOK – DON MUENG AIRPORT TRAIN LINE | \”BANG SUE\” THE BIGGEST TRAIN STATION IN SOUTHEAST ASIA


Entering Thailand is not as easy as before COVID19 existed. Now, there are multiple travel restrictions present, and travelers had to gather numerous required documents. Included in the required documents is the Certificate of Entry (COE), a certificate required to be obtained by anyone who will enter Thailand which requires time, effort to process and patience.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in collaboration with the Digital Government Development Agency (DGDA) is currently developing the Thailand Pass System to replace the Certificate of Entry (COE) system.
With the proposed full reopening of Thailand, along with its easing restrictions and the goal to revitalize the economy, Thai Authorities are planning to replace the slowpaced COE system with a faster Thailand Pass system to be used starting on November 1, 2021.
What Is Thailand Pass
The Thailand Pass system is a freeofcharge webbased system designed to make the documentation process of travelers entering Thailand more efficient than the Certificate of Entry application.
Just like the Certificate of Entry, it will collect data for entry forms required, but what makes it better than the Certificate of Entry (COE) is that it collects both travel and health information like vaccine certificates and it will help facilitate the filing of the TM6 and T8 Forms.
Through the Thailand Pass system, the expected documents and other paperwork requirements imposed on by the COVID19 will be addressed.
The goal of the new Thailand Pass is to help support the country’s “Ease of Travel” system after it reopens and to expedite the process of filling out information and uploading travel documents.

What are the Requirements for the Thailand Pass
In support of the “Ease of Travel”, there are only a few requirements that one will need to be able to obtain a QR entry code and enter Thailand. Listed below are the requirements:
Passport
Vaccination Certificate or Card
COVID19 Health Insurance Certificate
Confirmed ASQ hotel booking or Confirmed SHA+ hotel booking (with prebooked RT PCR test)
Flight Booking
How to Apply for Thailand Pass
The Thailand Pass System is a QR code generating system.
To obtain a QR entry code or Thailand Pass ID, travelers will have to:
Register at Thailand Pass web portal
Input personal details
Upload the required documents
Receive a confirmation email after registration (within seconds after registration)
Wait for the Thailand Pass approval (within an hour or up to 7 days)
