What is a Vertical Garden?

A vertical garden is an innovative growing system that can be attached to any surface. You can attach it to a wall in the interior or exterior of a building.

In a vertical garden, the plants root in structural support that attaches itself to the wall. The vertical support provides water and nutrition to the plants. In this way, the plants can grow and flourish on the wall instead of the ground.

decorating your vertical garden

A vertical garden is also known as a green wall. Professor Stanley Hart White introduced the concept of a green wall in 1938. But, Patric Blanc, a French Botanist popularized and modernized the idea. He developed indeed the modern vertical hydroponic gardens in the ’80s.

Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden Limestone Plants Tour — Plant One On Me — Ep 135

We depart the Chatuchak Plant market in Bangkok, Thailand (Ep 133 and 134) and head to the Chiang Mai area in Northern Thailand to meet up with Dr. Piyakaset at the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, a relatively new botanic garden that abuts a national forest and boasts a fine collection of native Thai plants from all over the country.
The main focus of this video, however, are the rare limestone plants in their Research Display Greenhouse, which isn’t open to the public. This will give most viewers a firsthand look at around 70 plants that you may not typically see anywhere else.

Green Oasis -Queen Sirikit Park – Bangkok Thailand

I show you around one of the most beautiful parks in Bangkok. Queen Surikit park is the 3rd video from the parks in the Chatuchak area of the city. It’s a green oasis in a sea of asphalt and concrete. It’s named after the former queen of Thailand and was dedicated on her 60th birthday, August 12th 1992. It is a great change of pace from the busy life of Bangkok to the tranquility of nature. Enjoy!
